WORKING IN ANTARCTICA
Conducting research in such an extreme environment is a challenge for scientists. Researchers suffer through the coldest temperatures and the strongest winds in the world in addition to the isolation of an ocean bound continent.
POLENET scientists are at the forefront of fieldwork in Antarctica. They spend hours in a harsh environment to set up their equipment, such as GPS receivers and seismic sensors. At times the weather is mild. However, the weather can change quickly and become very hazardous. The scientists must always be alert and prepared for changes.
