ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to thank all of those I forged a working relationship with and who gave up their time to help with my summer research project. A great thanks to my project partners Drs. Terry Wilson and Carol Landis. This project would never have reached its full potential without their leadership and goal oriented time management methodology. It is amazing how busy both of you were yet still managed to guide me through this. Additionally, I would like to thank Ph.D students Cristina Milan, Mike Willis and Stephanie Konfal for all their hard work and determination on this project.
During the summer, I have interacted with many researchers and staff here at The Ohio State University.
- The Byrd Polar Research Center, including technology support, remote sensing group, Polar meteorology group, Goldthwait Library, and The Polar Rock Repository was a great resource for any Antarctic information. I would like to personally thank Wes Haines, Katy Farness, Ryan Fogt, Lynn Lay, Anne Grunow, and David Elliot for their help in obtaining important data for this project.
- The R2 staff at the digital union. Starting this project, I knew very little about website development and other digital media but with the continuous support from all staff at the digital union, I was able to get out of my comfort zone and develop a useful website. Thanks Vicki, Rob, Tom, Sapna, Joe, Queenie and of course my fellow interns Emily, Adam, A.J., Deepak, Tim, Becka, Boyan, Nicki, and Deb. We were all in this together and we all came out alive. Thanks guys
- The Orton Library. Thanks to Mary Scott for direction to many key sources as well as ideas for the website.
In addtion to OSU, I have interacted with many research institutions across the country.
- I would like to thank the United States Antarctic Research Center and Dan Sechrist for supplying many aerial photos and digital maps.
- The University of Wisconsin’s polar meteorology program.
- Anya Reading of The University of Tasmania.
Since the beginning of Antarctic Research, many have given their lives in the name of science. I would like to recognize Scott, Cook, Amundsen, Byrd and other key figures who knew the scientific importance of Antarctica and sought to preserve it for all time.
Finally, I would like to thank my family and friends for all their continued support in my academic career. Great sacrifices were made so that I could enhance my knowledge base and proceed to the next academic level. Without their support, none of this would be possible, Thanks Mom, Dad, Jennifer, Jocelyn, and Janessa.
