R2R INTERNSHIP
The R2R internship through the Digital Union at The Ohio State University was a great opportunity to become actively involved in research in my field and learn new technology to help outline the research.
The internship started with a kickoff luncheon that enabled me to meet all 9 of the interns. The next big event is receiving a Mac laptop to use for the summer. Once we all had our computers, we began tutorials on essential programs such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and iMovie. The tutorial I enjoyed the most was on iMovie, check out my groups video on "Show and Tell 2007".

Another key aspect to the internship is to research “research”. Each week we were introduced to a new researcher and conducted roundtable discussions on an appropriate topic. Topics included:
- What is research?
- How universities work?
- What is a research question?
- Research Methodology
- Research topics and Rigor
- Research and Undergraduate Teaching
- Research Mistakes/Academic Misconduct
- Who funds your research?
Some of the things I learned this summer:
- Time management
- Research is challenging but rewarding
- You don’t need to be scared of technology because it has great value in every discipline
- Faculty and Staff of this and other universities are willing to help with anything, just ask!
- I love Mac computers!
- Antarctic research is very exciting.
